Owl drawing

One of my dear friends asked me to draw an owl tattoo she wanted. I ended up saying no at first because I guess I was still holding onto some anger about not going through with seeking out an apprenticeship myself and I didn't want someone else getting paid to make my art permanent.

That seems really bitchy.

I guess I was in a bad mood. HAHAHA

Anyhow.

I decided I wouldn't draw a tattoo per se, but a piece of art that maybe could be hung in her daughter's room. She is moving quite far away soon so I thought it would be a nice way to keep friends close.

I started on my 11X15 watercolor paper.
Using a drafting pencil, I sketched out an owl with some ribbons that would hold her daughter's name and some flowers. I made patchwork wings because I wanted to put my "imperfectly perfect" stamp on it (see my logo).

I then used a micron .5 to outline everything and added some roses

I then used the same pen to decorate her name

I finished everything with a combination of watercolor pencils and markers.

This is why I love watercolor paper, it doesn't mind having lots of ink on it!

BLIZZARD OF 2013

It really wasn't as scary as I thought it would be. We ended up getting about 28 inches. Since they promised this would be a big one, I set up my camera and tried to take a picture every half hour.

Check out the video I made!
